He sought a lot of information on Iraq in the beginning of his administration. Most people can put two and two together and realize one, he's an evangelical Christian who believes that he'd be a conquering hero for Christianity or in a nicer way he'd be the first to start the neo- conservative thought and put it to action. Oil seems to be the gold of today, and without it, a system of capitalism, industrialization, and modernization itself would be threatened. Bush thought, why not knock off a horrible dictator, be acclaimed by history as the father of spreading democracy, and secure for ourselves a nice plot of oil. Its all about the oil, and strategic posisitioning of Iraq. The troops securing the oil fields before securing a weapons cash tells you alone it was about oil. Any leader would be tempted to take over a middle eastern country when China a rising power and Russia are buying up all the oil they can. I do not blame Bush for thinking outside the box, but i do blame him for his incompetency and executing a sloppy war, with intelligence four years old, not enough troops and a complete lack of understanding of the people and culture of Iraq which has lead us to the roads of civil war and troop pullouts. I blame him for putting his personal desires for Iraq ahead of what is best for the United States, I blame him for using war as a tool of fear to expand his own power. The fact alone, is that everything we went in for in the beginning is no longer true, and our being there now has no reason. When mistakes are made like that it makes me wonder how the administration can say "whoops" and get away with it. Don Rumsfield should have resigned or been fired a hell of a long time ago, Bush should be investigated along with every member of that administration. When CIA analyst can't determine why we're going to war before it happens, and the President orders it anyways, serious accusations need to made and investigations need to be held. Nuclear Weapons programs in Iraq were dissovled after our bombing campaign in the first Gulf War, since then sanctions have left Iraq with no oppertunity of making a bomb for over a decade. We need a complete re-organization of our intelligence community if data like that is not avaliable for serious decesions such as going to war for the reason they are making a bomb. And not the re-organization that Don Rumsfield is the Czar of with all intelligence communites answering to the pentagon.
